In a world of uncertainty, nineteen wars, climate change, Trump, running out of bees, floods, fires, a cost of living crisis, not enough housing (in every country on the planet), what are you doing?
I appreciate that women go through a stage of life where their hormones take over and they have an overwhelming feeling to have children but get over it!
One needs to ask themselves what sort of world are they bring a child into?
Any why does it have to be yours? Are you so genetically brilliant that only your child with your DNA will be the one worth having; the answer is: NO!
I was watching an ABC Special about a woman in Sydney whom was as ugly as one could imagine and so couldn't find a partner so she was/is looking into IVF because she wants her own DNA to continue.
With the millions of children (in Australia alone) in need of adoption why does it have to be your own DNA.
I've written about this so much over the years - when I ask even the most intelligent people I know that have children they have no answer as to why they need to have children.
Children are expensive, cost the environment in so many dangerous ways and when they become adolescents they become aware of the terrifying reality of the world they live in.
So just don't have them - resist the hormones.
With the exception of three men I know whom are fathers, men absolutely hate having babies. I live in a wealthy area and do quite a lot of 'people watching' and these Fathers pushing prams around in their rare spare time look like they are ready to shoot themselves!
What most Australian women don't get is that when their Husbands get home from work the last thing they want is to have a baby thrust upon them on the basis of their wife is "exhausted" from looking after the baby all day.
What they want is to have a beer, watch some TV and relax before taking on Fatherly duties.
These are the sorts of issues that quickly move to the Family Court and Divorce.
Tony Shepherd wrote a small book in 2019 titled: "On Freedom" in which she makes a credible argument for why it's OK for women to not have to have children. It's a fantastic read, easy to understand and to all women whom have those hormones kick in should read first.
