Walking Permit

One needs a licence to drive, fly, drive a boat, use a jet-ski but when it comes to walking?

Can you answer these questions:

- is it a good idea to walk in front of a tram?

- is it a good idea to use your smart phone when walking?

- is it a good idea to walk outside of a shopfront, bar, restaurant in front of foot traffic without first checking if you might be walking straight into a stranger?

- is it a good idea to walk in a group slowly and not notice others may not be able to get past you?

- is it a good idea to ignore pedestrian crossings?

- is it a good idea to not use the pedestrian crossing buttons?

- is it a good idea to look at your smart phone rather than where you are going?

If you answered yes to any of the above you need one of my special licenses to walk!

Put your smart phones down and watch where you are going!

I now honestly line these people up. When they walk right into me the response I usually get is: "Didn't you know where I was going?" to which I respond: "Were you watching were you were going or focussing on your phone?"

Believe it or not, the world will continue to rotate whether or not you are on your phone all day. Would it kill you to ignore your phone for a short period of time or use AirPods or other devices to listen to music or use Maps which will allow you to use your eyes?

The answer is: YES! Millions of people around the world are killed every day because they are focussed on their phones rather than using their eyes.
